New Washer!

We have wanted a new washer for a long time now, since my washer from my college days had bad bushings which made the drum off balance.  It bangs LOUDLY when anything remotely heavy is in it.  Since Bradley has been working on some big freelance jobs lately, we thought it would be a good time to invest in a new one.

We checked consumer reports and went to 8 places to compare prices on the various washers with good ratings.  We settled on the GE 6800 Front load washer.  It was the second highest rated on the list! (the first was twice the price)

Brandsmart ended up having the best price (since you can haggle with them) so we got a floor sample washer and the pedestal for the price of just the washer at Home Depot and HH Gregg.  I wanted the pedestal simply for the added height since it is a front-load machine.  That way I don’t have to do a lot of stooping.

It was delivered today, and I am super excited.  The delivery guy started it for me to make sure the hoses are cleaned out before I put any clothes in, and boy is it quiet!  And I love that it is going to be way more energy and water efficient!

After it was delivered I discovered that I can’t reach the cabinet above the washer anymore.  The pedestal made it too tall for me to reach the cabinet, but then again the pedestal is a storage space in and of itself, so no harm done!

I think Habitual Rearranger fits me well because I am never settled on designs, colors, or placement of items in our home. I drive Bradley crazy sometimes, but I keep figuring out new and better ways of doing things! I am not striving to be profound or an expert on anything in this blog. It is simply a way to keep a record of all of my adventures - home and life - for me to reference and also for my loved ones to follow along. I am a born and raised Georgia girl. I don't think I would enjoy living anywhere except the south. Bradley and I spent six and a half years in our starter home and are now in our forever home, a 1970s traditional two story brick house. I love getting into all kinds of projects around our house, and I try to document all the dirty details here if for no one else than for me.
